The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering (FEEACS&BE) AGH-UST is one of the biggest faculties in Poland. It occupies a very high rank among similar such institutions in Poland and worldwide.
The history of the Faculty dates back to the year 1952 when the Faculty of Electromechanics split into the Faculty of Electrification of Mining and Metallurgy and Faculty of Mechanization of Mining and Metallurgy. In its present form, the Faculty has continued the dynamic development, originated by the Faculty of Electrification of Mining and Metallurgy, for the last 60 years. The Faculty was given its present name in 2012, after the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Electronics was restructured. At the same time the FEEACS&BE also overtook Biomedical Engineering studies, which were formerly conducted at the Interfaculty School of Engineering for Biomedicine.
The scientific potential of the Faculty can be evidenced by its right to confer scientific degree of PhD and doctor habilitatus in four disciplines: Automatics and Robotics; Electronics; Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as well as PhD degree in Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering.
The strategy of the Faculty is focused on the development of priority trends in the newest techniques and technologies for: IT, bioengineering, robotics, electrical energy ecological generation, transferring, processing and use, as well as novel electrical equipment and measurements.
A very active scientific, research and didactic activity is conducted by highly qualified academic staff representing five departments:
In most cases the scientific research are naturally followed by implementations. The Faculty co-operates with such leader companies as ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Tauron, Delphi.
The didactic activity of the Faculty concentrates on: Automatics and Robotics; Electrical Engineering; Applied Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering for the first- and second-cycle studies. Foreign students are offered minors at the second-cycle studies in the English language.
Our students are given high education standards, adjusted to the needs of modern industry. The graduates are searched for by employers, who frequently accept them to work even before graduation.
